Our teachers are the greatest asset to our program.
Each member of our teaching team is here because they LOVE this work. This is more than a job for our teachers. It's an opportunity for them to live their passion, share, inspire, engage, and awaken the sense of wonder and discovery inside of each and every child.
Ms. Nataly joined Discovery Time in February 2016 with over 6 years of classroom experience. Prior to joining our program, Ms. Nataly worked with toddlers and joins us with her CDA credential. Ms. Nataly is known for her willingness to help others and her kind spirit here at Discovery Time as well as her creative dance moves. Outside of work, Ms. Nataly enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children here in Alexandria where she resides.
Ms. Bianca joined Discovery Time in August 2014 after completing a two year early childhood program at TCW. Prior to working as a co-lead teacher with our Walkers, Ms. Bianca assisted our two year old class. Ms. Bianca loves sensory projects with our Walkers and outdoor play. She also enjoys event planning and has helped organize our Fall Festival for the past 2 years. Ms. Bianca is in the process of completing her CDA and enjoys baking outside of work.
Ms. Alania joined Discovery Time's toddler program in February 2016 after completing undergraduate studies in Child Psychology. Prior to working as a lead teacher with our Toddlers, Ms. Alania worked in the school system, supporting children in Prince George's County. Ms. Alania is known to sing Disney songs throughout Discovery Time and loves getting messy with our toddlers. Outside of work, Ms. Alania enjoys making delicious desserts which she often shares with our team during our Discovery Celebrations!
Ms. Natasha joined the Discovery Time family in March 2015 with over 10 years of experience. Ms. Natasha completed the Early Childhood Credential requirements in 2014 and is also certified in ALs Pals Character Education. Ms. Natasha is known for her music & movement activities in the classroom and she is popular with our families because of her vast knowledge in toddler development. Outside of work, Ms. Natasha enjoys spending time fishing and cooking.
Ms. Shirleeta joined the Discovery Time family in July 2014 with more than 15 years of experience. After spending any amount of time in her classroom, you'll know that she was BORN to do this work! Ms. Shirleeta has received recognition for both Teacher and Classroom of the Month and also serves as a manager for our program as an adminstrative lead. Outside of work, Ms. Shirleeta enjoys speding time with family and she is known to attend Birthday Parties for our 4s and 5s from time to time!
Ms. Jessica joined the Discovery Time family in May 2015 after teaching in Japan for several years. Ms. Jessica is primarily assigned to our preK classroom but often serves our program by leading classrooms when our teachers are in training or out on leave. In addition to working at Discovery Time, Ms. Jessica also goes to school full-time and is working towards a nursing degree with a long-term goal of working in Pediatrics. Outside of work, Ms. Jessica enjoys collecting Disney memorabilia and spending time with family.
Ms. Lamicka joined Discovery Time in March 2015 after working as an assistant teacher for two years. She absolutely loves children and has special talent in the area of art. Since joining our team, Ms. Lamicka has built an awesome relationship with families and earned multiple acknowledgements in the area of parent engagement on our 2016 family feedback survey. Outside of work Ms. Lamicka enjoys spending time with her siblings including her twin sister.
Ms. Kyra joined the Discovery Time family as a lead teacher for our two year old classroom in July 2015. Ms. Kyra has nearly 10 years of experience and previously, Ms. Kyra worked with Arlington Public Schools as a Kindergarten Assistant. Since joining our team, Ms. Kyra has become well known for her energetic songs in the classroom and for her creative science activities. Outside of work, Ms. Kyra is a full-time Mom and student currently pursuing her BA in Social Work.
Ms. Joy joined Discovery Time in October 2015 with 2 years of lead teacher experience. She completed two years of early childhood training at TCW and was recognized by the ACPS ECE Coordinator as Teacher of the Year prior to joining our team. Ms. Joy takes pride in the relationship that she has with each of her individual babies and she is known at Discovery Time for her positive and energetic personality. Outside of work, Ms. Joy enjoys spending time with her son, reading, and going to the movies.
